USS Sulaco (another one?!?) yep
seeing Dolza1971's build of this i figured it was about time that i built one of these myself. i finally felt that i was ready to build this after having on my todo list for almost 10 years.
i started out with section 1 of the ship. on the first attempt the separate sections would not line up properly, they were a bit warped and had gaps on the corners all in all i was not satisfied with the results. so i reprinted the sheets and decided to go the boat builders path. i cut out all the main skins and glues them together to make 2 flat panels. i then used the bottom and the end pattern peaces to create a bulkhead framework out of 1mm card to glue the newly created skins to. so here is the final result i wish i had taken pictures of the previous attempt and the steps i used for this one but i was to engrossed in the building i forgot. Part 2 of the ship was just the flat panels on the sides, those went together as designed without any issue, and came together really well. next part is the forward antenna array.

Very nice results! Do you have a pic of the bulkheads before attaching the skin? Would love to see the structure.
Btw, when I saw that green cutting mat and the Thinkpad and water bottle, I thought you may just be building this in my house! Looks exactly like my workspace, lol

@Cory no, i wish i did get photos of the setup. but i used end pieces of part 13,17, and 24 to make the 1mm bulkheads and i also laminated all the base pieces onto 1mm card as well made a very rigid section after it was skinned.
just completed the front section and all the antennas on the array i laid out the skins on .5mm card to make them much stronger and easier to handle once attached to the rest of the structure and to get rid of the seams as best as possible. the rest was all built to design except for all the round antennas where i used lollipop/sucker sticks peeled down to the proper diameter and rolled the parts around them and glued them to the sticks.

i finished section 3 twice, the first one i built the way that was in the instructions came out about 1/2 of an inch to long due to the thickness of tabs and such. so i decided to scrap that one and rebuild it the same way i did the upper hull section. so i reprinted the parts and cut out all the panels and laminated them to 1mm card. i then cut out all the door panels and glued them to the back of the 1mm card behind the cutouts. i created a box frame and former's from .5mm card and then attached the created skins. the end result came out the correct length and is very strong although a little heavier than i thought it would be.
then jumping into the next section, being very careful with the edge gluing of each of the boxes that compose this group. this time i had no issues with the building. all the dimensions were right on and fit perfectly.

Lots of extra build work, but look at the results. Very good work. Still don't have the nerve to build this.😬

i have about 2-3 hours to work on it per day. and the model is broken up beautifully in to major groups so i can get 1 or 2 groups done in a week depending on the number of pieces in the group.
