Done a quick rework on the Blender model. This was to get better exports / build parts on the depth pieces for the windows and cockpit. I also used this as an opportunity to tweak the 'hanger bay'. My original model had the bay taper towards the front when the actual bay is straight and uniform throughout.

It also gave me a chance to work on the internals needed for the internal support.

I've exported the new parts and retextured them. The idea is to give the option for a simple flat build or a more detailed build that adds depth pieces to the windows and other vents on the model.

Internal parts all sorted and assembled.

Last two pics are the internal parts very roughly placed on each other to give a general idea of shape and size.

That is quite the internal framework! Great work so far. I want to build this.

Finished the texture work on mainbody parts (i'll post some images tomorrow)

This has lead me on to having a think about how to do the engine. It's a tough part as it can be done easily but with low detail or more difficult with higher detail. I'll end up including both options in the final model so end user gets to choose.

So I had a think about how to break the engine down and export the parts for texturing in a way that allows them to be both fairly straight forward to build while main keep the detail and depth of the parts.

This is what I came up with.

Yes, this is the challenge! Modelling for paper construction will vary widely from modelling for say, 3d printing, and that will vary from modelling a game mesh, and that will be much different than making a mesh for film.

Thanks for showing this in your build, it's turning out great so far!

Having had a look at the model it's clear the engine is going to be the toughest part so I opted to start with a test build of this part.

It's turned out not too bad at all. Most likely needs some tidy up, this was just a quick and dirty test build that I adapted on the fly as I encountered issues or came up with a better way to build but not bad at all.
