Palms for Pete
OK Pete palm trees!.
Step one cut some strips of card. Then fold it in half and cut the profile of your palm leaf leaving a length of stem at the back to use to join it to the other leaves. Next cutting from front to back centre to edge go around the leaf making small cuts for the fronds.Unfold the leaf and glue a thin strip along the centre of the leaf, this is to help it keep some rigidity and strength.Tease the fronds apart for the palm leaf effect.Repeat until you have the required amount of leaves

Next
Gathering your leaves together twist the stems so as to join them to each other you can use a drop of glue to hold them.
Cut some more paper strips,I used a brown envelope,I would of used the brown parcel tape, the type that you wet the back of but I couldn't find it,Ho Hum. Glue and wrap the strips around the stems working down. Take another piece of card and attach it to the bottom of the stems to extend the trunk and then continue wrapping until you have covered it all. Play about a bit with the leaves and fronds adjusting until you have the effect you want.Ta Da! Palm Trees. I used green card and brown paper to save having to do to much,as I said before this was supposed to be a quick bit of whimsy not a major diorama.Using normal copier paper ,paints and taking some care and time with it you can achieve a very realistic effect this way.I hope this is of some help to those interested,I'm afraid I'm not much of a teacher,or student for that matter I'm more the drawing F86's on the book cover sort, and yaks for some reason, the animal not the plane,I don't know why

Thanks for the kind words chaps I'm glad you like what I've done there's a few more bits to do to finish off then I think I should finish Marvin the Martian.I promised my Son he could have him and as he has just got all A's in his exams Marvin would be a sort of well done gift. After that well Big G has given me loads of ideas so it will be one of them unless something shiny distracts me.
