That's a good solution.... a mix of both. I know CG isn't cheap - just cheaper !, have to agree Avatar was {is} a fine example and a cooooool film The idea of a 3D version is also a great idea - but not just thrown in for good measure. |

Just became indoctrinated
Picked up both the 'original' Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds movie and the liev action 'remake' with Bill Paxton, Sir Ben Kingsley and Anthony Edwards. Great fun, plus a lot of 'wink-wink' going on with the remake (like the scene with the stringed puppet hand on the throttle...) so a lot of respect there for the original. Not Shakespeare but vintage Anderson nonetheless. I must say I enjoyed the remake's interpretation of the TB fleet.
BTW, my 11-year old daughter was taken by the two movies right off the bat, more so the remake - so perhaps that one hit their target audience after all. In a way it was less scary that the original (no bad guys getting wasted, after all.) Thanks for sharing!

That almost got by me. Gonna have to show the kid, and pass the baton!! Maybe it was her accent, she certainly was a woman with many "strings" attached. |

I'm sorry but Lady P was my special lady.
I thought TinTin was too naive and weak. Glad to hear someone else has "found" Thunderbirds. Yes the recent movie helps to keep the story alive, but "kids" of today just won't get the original series. People just can't understand the impact Anderson shows had over youngsters like myself. In the same way we can't understand the sheer terror audiences experienced in 1931 at the first screenings of Frankenstein. Or the awe and wonder at seeing the first Moon walk. In many ways, Thunderbirds and Anderson shows were Britain's Star Trek experience. Actually introducing characters, names, words and actions into everyday people's lives. Even today, there are references in British TV and Movies to Thunderbirds characters and the like. Thunderbirds was important enough to me, that I actually named my Daughter after a Thunderbirds character. No word of a lie...her middle name is Penelope for no other reason! I'm glad someone is making models of these great vehicles, I wish I had the time (or room) to build them all! A few years back I had an enormous collection of Anderson memorabilia. Had just about every Japanese Plastic Kit, about two dozen Dinky toys, countless other items...which I sold, when I got married. Actually I had to sell a lot of personal stuff when I got married. (Too bad really, since the marriage didn't last) ...but its nice to be able to collect a few vehicles again with these models!

Lady P and Tin Tin, now you talking, though that's illegal in most states, but they are marionettes and...........................
(That whole naivety and weakness was an act, Tin Tin was really hard, and made of tough stuff underneath it all, and I prefer Brunettes anyways. So, I'm right.) |
