Thunderfighter Build

Hi, this is my Thunderfighter project.
I am building it for a good friend of mine...

I have printed 2 sheets into 1 (A4 size), so from the original 1:32 scale, it should be somewhere around 1:45 for this build.

Well, on to the pics...

Well, here it is in its beginning stages of the build...

After I glued the internal structure in place, the corners and various small parts were soaked with CA to give it some strength and rigidity. (First 3 Pics)

And then some WIP photos of the build. That's it for today... will continue to update when more is done.

Hi, thanks and welcome to the forums!
No worries, CA refers to Cyanoacrylate, in other words it's just superglue.
Those used for soaking paper to harden them have low viscosity - as opposed to the gel-type superglue which have high viscosity and are not really that suitable for this purpose.

You are off to a very nice start.
The only thing that I can suggest so far, is that you should have waited to attach part 143 until after you have attached the two halves together and attached parts 178 through 185 first. The build will go easier if you follow this path.

Other then that you are doing a GREAT job so far.

Although, I have to say that I commend you work on this scale. If I may ask, what is the weight of the paper that you are using for this?

I will be following this thread closely.

Hi, part 143 is not fully attached... only the back part is attached (the fit is very snug, so I didn't want to have to muck around with it after everything else is glued on). It's not too evident in the pics I suppose - will take another pic and post.

The paper I'm using is 160 gsm.

I have to say that the template is pretty good - everything fits quite nicely together. So it is up to the builder to ensure the cutting is accurate.

Didn't do much today... just the thrusters and the engine intakes

First pic only shows the parts for 1 thruster.

A word of advice to those attempting this build: work slowly and purposefully when doing the thrusters... they have lots of small parts and are VERY fiddly. So, take your time and dry fit as much as possible before committing to glue. Oh, and cutting is very important; make sure your cuts are clean and accurate - change cutter blades if necessary, the sharper, the better!

Thanks Rhaven Black.

One thing that puzzled me was the 3 tabs on the internals in the thrusters, didn't know why it was there and how to join - so I decided to cut them off and did them my way. They came out fine the way I made them, at least to me they did.

See pic...
