Thank you Mick for your nice comments. It was supposed to be little more than a angled bit of card with some girders drawn on it,I got a little carried away as it went on

This could work...but only if they copy the original series.

But lets face it...using Puppets just isn't feasible.
Cost, logistics...CGI is simpler and faster these days.

The trick would be to make it look like the series.
Make CGI supermarionation.

Intel processors...are GO!

Maybe give the puppets smaller heads, better movements, etc
but don't try to "re-invent" the thing.
Make the exact same series with the same type of stories and images, but do it on a computer instead.

Its when they try to redesign and reinvent a show that it fails.
Because the old fans don't want to see something different.
And the new fans don't understand the connection and don't understand the limitations that are put on the story by the original.

I liked the Tbirds movie that came out a few years ago...I thought there were many good elements.
The failure was in targeting a new, young child audience who just didn't get it.

Had they dropped the teen storyline and focused on an Adult story for the old fans of Tbirds, it would have worked better...even with the updated storyline and technology.

My guess would be it will be CGI like the Captain Scarlet remake and the equally ill fated Dan Dare, hopefully though this will have a better fate. Both DD (I know not a Gerry Anderson product) and CS were good programmes and both were killed off by poor scheduling, the new Captain Scarlet being a real challenge to find. Gerry Anderson is involved with this and so is the BBC so hopefully it will be given a fair go.
Again fingers crossed.

Dave's right and the CGI will make it easy to put the strings in digitally...

I agree with the fact that making Supermarionation is VERY expensive - the guys required to pull this off all adds DRAMATICALLY to costs plus the making of the puppets themselves = another small fortune {Team America WASN'T cheap} but a smash hit with many... but this is different, the Audience wasn't expecting anything other than what they saw on the screen, whereas, we FANDERSONS do expect certain things and most of which stem right back to our childhood - a certain something..... The way forward is really like has been said here already, yeah lets go with CG - but leave the BASE alone " AS IS " but in CG, this is simple enough {simple not the right word... Economical } to go with, just leave the characters/craft etc etc ALONE, just maybe they will get away with it.

If "Tin Tin" isn't Hot and Legal, the show will flop. When I was a kid I had a thing for "TinTin", hey, it's not that creepy, after seeing some of those Japanese robots their making now. I see a whole new market line.
