1/100 Light Training & Recce Craft (Dragos Card Models)

In the mood to try some sci-fi, I obtained this nice little kit from Ecardmodels. Designed by Dragos (Romania, 2009), this will be a first for me, venturing away (temporarily) from boats and trains 😄

One thing I don't like is the Ecardmodels logo on the wings, so I will have to address those.

My plan is to make this as a futuristic Royal Air Force (RAF) craft - it already has the colours of the Red Arrows 😄.

The design has some nice-looking cockpit details..... I think I'll have to open up the windows and add glazing......

I hope Dragos will approve 👍🏻✂️

A bit more detailing on the cockpit......

The forward fuselage compartment was cut out, scored, and folded. The blue glass representations were removed. The inside of the fuselage was coloured with felt pen to match the cockpit, and additional details were added to the bulkhead.

The front/top fuselage was glued first and the joins strengthened internally with UHU.

Glazing panels were cut from thin polycarbonate, using the blue cut-outs as formers (slightly oversized).

Forward fuselage assembled, with glazing in place... The interior cockpit details can be seen.

Lower part of main fuselage also assembled.

A bit of tidying up is required......

The lower part of the fuselage almost completed. I added a couple of bits of card to strengthen the top bulkhead (which will join onto the front fuselage section).

The rear part (No. 6) was difficult to assemble, as it was quite fragile. I ended up capping the end of it l(orange colour). As this is a fictional craft, I'm not sure what this part would be called.... I'm going to say it's part of the thrust mechanism.

The upper part of the fuselage..... The side pieces were assembled and attached - again, not sure what these would be, so I assembled them as positional thrusters, with the rear being coloured black to resemble outlets. I added a length of triple-thickness card (white, shown) under the (triangular) section which supports the tailplane, to keep it straight.

Second photo shows top part assembled.

I cut two sections of card to match each of the bottom surfaces of the front and main fuselage. I used these as templates to cut out one (combined) piece of card. This will be attached to the bottom fuselage after the two sections have been joined, providing strength and hiding the seam.

It was designed to be inside the fuselage
