Jan Rukr's M577 1/25 APC Build

I decided to build the 1/25th scale APC from aliens papercraft (Jan Rukr)
anyhow here I go
First of all, I've printed this on 110lb card stock , not A4. the Reason being that I have no access to A4 paper.
Anywho, I printed the pages a week ago and left them on a shelf which resulted in a slight bend on the page I remedied this after initial incisions with a backbone made of the scrap cardboard from a box of snack cakes.
I didn't see the center fold line on the exterior of the top of the APC until I had placed the structure pieces so I ended up with a mass of wrinkles around it. Apart from the wrinkles (I WILL NOT RE-PRINT DARK Pieces!) I think I'm doin' pretty well. As the title says this is not my model, it was designed by Jan Rukr I'm just doin' a build of it.

I built this a while back and it goes together real well. You just have to keep track of the fold lines. The main body is not too hard but that sliding cannon has some real hard fold lines. When it comes together it is a real beaut. My grandson was about two when he got his hands on it and tried to make it roll on fixed and glued in position tires. Needless to say, I had to re-glue the wheels. (It folds better than the dropship)

Go, man, go! I'd love to see any of Jan's models built in larger scale.

I've toyed with enlarging the Dropship but it just doesn't work well from a looks standpoint.

I have a vague memory (some years old) that some of the parts around the front of the model were hard to get right - quite complex folds and the fit wasn't good.

Regards,

Charlie

thanks for the comments everyone and with regards to Child-proofing, I am reinforcing wherever necessary (sometimes wherever unnecessary) So even if my three-year-old half brother gets his mitts on my build, He won't be able to damage it severely.
@silveroxide: I constructed the 1:150 dropship as well, the landing gear was a pain in the butt to keep from leaning and destroying fifteen minutes (or more) of work.

If he does get his hands on it, just smile and take it as a compliment. I was about 4 when I played with the airplanes of my 12 year old brothers model aircraft carrier and he screamed at me. I am now 51 years old and about 5 years ago he brought it up, still angry. Needless to say, we don't really have a relationship. My son has played with every model I have made. He has ruined or damaged a few, but it's only paper and the joy it gave him was priceless.

what I meant was "if he gets his hands on it (which I fully expect he will) the Heavy reinforcement of the main structures should prevent catastrophic failure"

Alright, Update Time!
I got the whole right side attached to the top and the wheel wells Reinforced by pasting a template over the fold flaps that hold the part to the sides. I added reinforcing ribs cut from a cereal Box that connect the underbelly to the sides. I plan to add more reinforcement ribs later.

Now for another Update!
I got the main chassis/body closed up but not before adding a few reinforcement ribs to it and after the glue dried, I tested the strength of my reinforcing by placing a mug filled with ~ 43 quarters on it. The result: it held up.

that was yesterday evening. Today, I managed to place the AC unit/middle part of the left side onto the brick of a body along with some greebles and the front left portion. During construction of these parts I found a few errors that Jan had mentioned on the download page
1. the texture on the base for the angled-bit near the front window is misaligned(though proper placement of parts hides this error)
2. parts 39 and 40 (located in the inboard part of the front left wheel well near the AC Unit) are sized such that they don't go where the instructions/fold flaps on surrounding parts indicate. Upon further looking into it, the parts are switched. that's all for today. I took shots of the 1:25 scale in comparison to the 1:150 scale

I tried to upload a pic of the side I just finished, but Photobucket messed up
