53 Martian War Machine

Hey all,

I have had a WIP 53 WOW Martain War Machine sitting on my drive as is for the last couple of years and with my current list of projects, it will be some time before I get back to it. So for now, I am releasing a lower polycount model as is for you to build and modify as you will. I just ask that you send the updated files back to Jon to post.

Enjoy!

I am attempting to build this kit...but its an absolute nightmare.

First...no instructions. The 3D diagram is just about useless in my opinion.
Second...the number of strangely distorted and oddly shaped pieces is ridiculous. Since the craft is same on either side, you would expect some sort of mirror image parts...but the strange difference in parts from either side results in a lot of frustration and an oddly shaped craft.

After much hair pulling, I have managed to cobble together something that sort of resembles the martian craft...but it will require a lot of surface puttying to fill in some gaps, voids and strangely distorted edges! lol

I know I am still something of a novice, but this kit needs a major rework! And since I have yet to see an update, a photo of a completed model or even a set of instructions...I assume that no-one else has been dumb (or brave) enought to try it?

sorry, to be so harsh...but this model has really frustrated me!

so...can anyone point me to some info about using surface fillers, putties, etc...I would really like to see if iI can make this model work.

The model was a prototype and an early design by me. Be thankful I didn't post the one part model.......Anyway, it was not that bad. I'll try to look up my design notes and post some info on it.

yeah...I am sorry for being a little harsh...as I said, I think the model got the best of me and I just got too frustrated.
I apologize for ranting.

A little harsh? Completely mean if you ask me. Here is a person, offering you a free kit, and you rip him to shreads...Bad form!

How can people complain about the lack of instructions with a free kit?

AD, no harm done. I have done the same thing (with a $60 paper kit!).

Airdave, I really wish you would not. I was just trying to get you to think, not to leave.
