Scratch built Thunder Fighter
Here is my scratch built Thunder Fighter. I know it is not the prettiest, but in my defence, I have never built one of these from scratch and I think I built it too small. The next one I build will be bigger.
I desided to paint it in colonial colors. I hope that all of you will enjoy it. |

Have you seen Martin Sanger's Thunderfighter over on paperaviation.de? It builds up into a nice model which was very easy to customise, good size too.

pretty impressive for a scratch build. how did you get the different sections of the engine to fit together perfectly without using any CAD software?
if i know how to do that i would be scratch building a zillion things. |

Sushibones,
I do know about that thunder fighter. I have it and built it. I have to rebuild it. I had some problems with the instructions and mine looks like crap, but like I said, I plan on building a better on later. Marksolo, I have line drawings of all of the verients of the thunder fighter (and a few that I have been designing my self). I used those as a guide. I started with two outlines of the plane (as if I were drawing the top or bottum of the plane). I drew out where every thing needed to be placed and started making the pieces and glueing them on. As for designing the planes, I just hand draw everything, or use paint shop to "cut and paste" what I need. Thank you every one for the kind words. my next project is a forward swept wing verson. |

Here are the line drawings I have used for my models. I tried to post the new one that I am working on but it will no download. I keep getting the message. (This BMP image has the incorrect file extension.) I am not sure what I have done wrong or what to do to fix it. BTW the MK2B (two/four seater) I designed myself.
Marksolo, I hope these help you in your scratch build. Last edited by Rhaven Blaack; 11-10-2009 at 03:57 AM. |

Thanks for the details RB. Often all we need is the knowledge that it can be done to make things happen.
Thanks for the inspirations! |

Marksolo:
Do you have a CAD program for designing such? If so, I would like to see these made into production models. Also if I can get your e-mail I will send the FSW varient. I tried to upload it but it would not take. |

Rhaven,
Load the last file into your paint program and save it as a .JPG file. Then it will upload. Nice drawings, by the way. Mike |
