BSG Stealthstar

I started to post this build here before the belated millennium virus hit. It is almost done over at Zealot, so I am deliberating whether I should do a build thread here or just post the finished product. As it stands now, the Stealth
star is finished but I have some ideas for the display of the ship.

Here is a sneak peak of the bird as it stands now. Give me some feed back if it should be posted in its entirety over here as well.

The preliminary plans are also almost finished. I have to work on the numbering sequence and the landing gear and some other items are still being worked on. Enjoy

Silveroxide,

She looks GREAT. Please leave it here as well for those who are only here.
I know that I am on both sites, but I am sure there are quite a few people that are only on this site (and might not really know of the other site or may have issues with the other site.).
This is too WONDERFUL of a model to not share it with both sites. I also think that you have a BIG enough following on both sites, that you should share it with both sites.

Once again, this looks GREAT!!!
I am looking forward to building it!!!

So here it is, the start of the stealthstar. Disregard the numbered sequence. This model is done different in that it is made up of two sections. The upper half and the bottom half. If you noticed, there is a big hole in the center of the template. This is for the placement of the cockpit tub from the bottom

There are two center laminated railing support that go along the red markings. You have to make your own tabs from scrap paper. Once the inside tabs are set, Place the railing on tabs as a guide. There is a slight angle to this part. I used clamps to hold the parts in place. There are three inside bulkheads/spacer to help keep the railings in place so that they do not bend in when skinning.

Took the topside shell and wrapped the tabs to the front under the template. The rear part is bent under and glued to the top of the template using the guide lines.

Now we start to build up the top of the fuselage. There should be a slight peak to the top curvature but I forgot to give that slight center peak to the model.
Started to build up the rear section behind the cockpit. Again, I laminated heavily. This model is very sturdy and can hold up to a lot of handling.

There are two scoops on the rear section. These will be removed later so disregard those parts. I Had a conflict when making the engine supports. It did not aligned well.

Keeping up with the updates. Skinned the rear of the fuselage. The additional raised detail has two choices. Placed a scrap angle support at the rear to help close it up later. Here is where I got rid of the original scoop area. Placed an angled center support for the wing and then covered it up. Placed the rear engine support strip.
Started to work on the two top engine units. I cut them into individual pieces and laminated them to give that thick front scoop look. But it can also be copied and pasted into a single unit and folded to shape. I placed two internal supports, this will darken the scoop area. made a bended venturi and placed it to the front of the engine unit. The lattice work was done with a series of thinly cut pieces and latticed them on the top rear of the engine unit.

Cut a small strip and placed it around the cockpit opening. This again will come in handy later on when you place the canopy on.

You are welcome Mark; Most of my model postings are build threads. If just one person has learned something from my works, then it was/is worth it.

Used a round object to bend the canopy inner strip. Set the half moon shape wedge into the front and placed the tear drop piece bent in the center into the from area. The inner canopy ring is done. This will help later to help adhere the canopy in place.

I was looking closely at the second picture of the model and noticed the "TAIL FINS". I like them, if you can, please leave them (atleast as option parts). They really look good on it and adds to it nicely.

Those tail fins are in the final pics, The last photo has them on.

The bottom template is now ready for construction. In the plans, cut out the wings, you will use them later for skinning.

In the top part the skin was wrapped around the bottom of the template. Here you will use scratch material and make some tabs.
At the nose there is a rounded former. This should be slightly flat at the bend of the arc.

Once the glue has set, attach the lower section to the top section.

I can not say enough good things about this model. I really like it and looking forward to building it and adding it to my collection.

I am also looking forward to see what you are going to do with the "BLACK BIRD" as well.
