Progress report:
Sensor pods on the nose are roughly finished. There are some little fit/accuracy problems (caused by me this time), but nothing fatal. Let's hope they will hide under all the antennas .
Next step: the RCS system. According to some sources there should be 36 thrusters in total, while I can only see cca 24 on the CGI model. Well, I wanted to add some more anyway, to make sure the ship would be controllable.
See you next week.

This is a truly incredible model your designing,so much detail and attention to real world design issues, HEY! you are making it as a model not a full size ship aren't you, because if you are doing the full size ship I'm willing to sign up as crew.

Well, all you need is a really big printer .

When the time is up, I'll surely be needing a crew of beta builders, so thank you for volunteering . No shooting expected, though.

Progress report:

It's been a good weekend. Except of the reverse thrusters, the whole RCS system is finished. Only four nozzles had to be re-aimed and two added - not bad (so far).
Solar panels have been added as well. I'm tempted to redesign the holders - the single cylindrical things under the center of each panel look neither too practical nor too cool. And I love lattice beams . But from the practical point of view, the panels wouldn't survive a single reentry anyway, so what's the point...

I really appreciate all the work and thought you're putting into one of my favorite sci-fi spacecraft. I want to put in my bid as a beta builder (just give me a couple days heads-up; I'll need to buy some new ink cartridges and cardstock).

You think you'd be up to doing a model of the Millennium Falcon in scale with this when you're done? Because, y'know, it would be a nice start to a "tramp freighters" display.

Actually, this is inspiring me to pull out an old project: the Eagle Five from Spaceballs. The model at Zealot is really low-quality compared to other efforts, and is based on the regular Winnebago Chieftain, not the '85 Chieftain 33'.

Thank you.
Don't worry, there will be no rush. Time to start preparing for the beta will come when I say something like "All right, the instructions are finished, I'm now fixing last few bugs and packing it all up.". From that point, it will take about a week. Oh, and a warning: the first beta will be untextured, just to test how it goes together. So very little ink will be needed.

No, I don't plan the Falcon. First, there are already several good quality kits out there (way beyond my texturing skills, by the way), and second, I'm not too much into SW. What is on the plan is some more ships from the Firefly 'Verse, in this order: the Alliance "floating city" Tohoku-class cruiser (in smaller scale, of course), Independent navy Maelström-class battlecruiser (fanfic, but quite cool, and the most practical space warship design I've ever seen), and speaking of tramp freighters, maybe some of the fanfic Rolling Thunder or Trance class "flying brick" transports. Or even the classic Trans-U... hey, that hasn't been paperized yet, has it?

This thread is not dead... it's UNDEAD! (but digging it up was the hardest part of this update )

OK, now guess what is... this:

Designed to be mounted on a small electric motor and wheeeeee... Of course, easy version is just an inverted cone with printed blade pattern and doesn't rotate.

And this is how the jet engine starts to unfold:

Two pages so far, and the biggest parts are not yet there. The thing is gonna be BIG .

See you next week, or something like that.
