My YT-1300 Freighter Build

ok so i have issues in building shunichi's Millennium Falcon, namely:

1. since instructions are a bit sketchy (for me at least) and i did'nt research (my bad); i completely missed out how to attach the inserts on the equipment access bay, i glued it on the lower mainframe and folded the tabs the wrong way, and only found the mistake after gluing the two halves, tsk tsk tsk;

how in the world did i miss that one???

2. in gluing the two halves, i had difficulty lining up so it ends up misaligned, specially on the escape pod area and the port docking ring. i attribute this problem due to the support tabs on part MF-22 getting in the way of part R-2;

3. i was dumbfounded about how the color came out after printing the parts on glossy photopaper, overall my MF looks brownish all over!; moreover, when i cut, i get this fine black granular like dust which i think is the cracked top layer of the photopaper, soon after much cutting, it's everywhere! (now i hate glossy photopaper);

any way, i thought i can sleep with these seemingly minor problems...but i can't...

next morning i decided to stop my MF build and start it's twin ship, the YT-1300 Freighter. the unfinished MF would be my case study (or should i say, token of mistake) as i go building the YT, in this case i promised myself not to repeat my mistakes and make the next build the NEATEST i have ever done so far!

here are the pictures of both ships:

my build so far...

if anyone has a surefire way on how to nail the gluing of the two halves, it'll be very much appreciated!

When I built this ship, I glued each quarter in turn, allowing enough time for the glue to set completely before I moved on to the next one.

Nice work on the YT!

Here, this gallery contains my own YT build, it might help you with some parts!

Don't worry about aligning the inserts though, just go with what you think looks good.

Anybody still has this template? Cannot find it anywhere... :-/

Anyone has this template?
Cannot find it, seems Makino erased it about 2012.

Hi!

Welcome to papermodelers.com!

Generally, we are a very friendly and accomodating bunch, provided everyone follows our rules and guidelines.

One of our guidelines (and for many forums in general) is that it is considered bad form to sign up and immediately start asking for things right off the bat- Especially without introducing yourself first. Especially your first (and so far only) post...

(However, to be fair, I could not find our rules and guidelines when I tried to. Hopefully, this can be corrected soon.)

Normally, members would be almost tripping over each other to find and provide a link (myself included). However, since we like to encourage proper decorum, we ask that you properly introduce yourself before making any requests.

Just trying to give a friendly heads-up, and welcome aboard!

You can do a web search for "YT1300 paper model" or "Millenium Falcon paper model" that'll give you a few to choose from.

I'd downloaded the YT with the blue trim years ago, but never built it.
