You definitely have the right attitude towards this, I applaud you. And Simon's right, nobody builds museum quality models their first time out. I'm not ashamed to show some of my lackluster early builds - I think its great to see folks' progress over time.

These two I built over a decade ago, back in highschool:

Then getting back into the hobby again about 2 years ago, these were some of my early models just getting into the swing of things again (though I had a year or two experience under my belt, just long ago):

i like the bi-plane. yeah, i figured that paper modeling is more about fun than anything else. it's been a big help to my self confidence, and while my cricket is

Love the Gary Larson rocket (is that the 'well, no one said it was rocket science' cartoon?) do you recall where you got it from?

i have hit a snag, again. this time, however, it is not because i dont know where something goes.

i am having much difficulty with part 32. it forms the handle of the gun, and it is very odd. i cannot for the life of me figure out how to fold the darn thing!

i would post a section that contains only the part mentioned, but i am afraid i would be lynched by uhu02 fanboys.

if anyone who has the model would kindly cut out 32 and tell me how it goes or something, it would be a great help.

y'know, i am starting to feel like i am taking up too much space with my stupidity.

This looks to be a very cool project. Our kids and I watched Men In Black, just last night and I remember laughing at the kickback of the Noisy Cricket. I can hardly wait to see what the next piece looks like. -AndrewO, in San Jose, CA

haha I'm laughing my generic uhu model statement off....
"I am having much difficulty with part [blank]. it forms the [blank], and it is very odd. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fold the darn thing!"

Noone will lynch you :P Well, maybe that one guy.....

Anyways! This community is really helpful and there are a lot of great people who can help ya with this model. However, sometimes they might not be on when you need them (You know, real life and all )

Personally I think you're doing great, keep the pictures and explanations coming! :D

Everyone learns from their mistakes and since you plan on doing this model again sometime, you'll have doubley the confidence and by then, a new X-acto

Part 32 makes up the handle and grips...it does look very awkward.
(if you think that one is bad, you should try uhu's Blade Runner Blaster!)

uhu has a desire to make single parts contort into all kinds of strange ways.
and he has even more fun with multiple piece parts! lol

I would suggest first thing is to pay attention to the valley/mountain fold markings.
That might help you alot.
Maybe cut of all the tabs which are a visual confusion, but be careful, because without the tabs, some parts become so thin that they will not survive handling.

I'm not too proud to say that most of my builds don't even make picture of the week (1 did, but only because it was the only picture posted that week). (Cmags FG Huey looks waaaaaay better than any of mine ever did.)

Somebody once told me my skills range more towards designing...and away from building. So I design, and let other people make my models look good:D:p
