After Years...
Backstory: I started playing Battletech in college in the mid 90s. After 2 games on mapsheets, I built my first few buildings, and eventually started a side business making custom wargames terrain.
Most of my customers were 40K players, so I became well-versed in the 40K universe, armies, backstories, slang, and everything else. But I never played. I'd already sunk my meager funds into Battletech. That was 20 years ago, and I still find pieces I built at game stores, sometimes over 100 miles from where I originally delivered them. It makes me feel good to see they've lasted so long. But I digress... I got into papercrafting looking for faster ways to churn out buildings, and then vehicles, and ships, and mechs and...well, that's touched off my delving into 3D modeling. Last week, my oldest had a pretty rough week at school. Friendship drama, principal's office, the works. My wife took him to town with her, and he wandered into Level Up, a local game store. Some kind soul there took pity on a little boy, and taught him to play 40K. He promptly emptied his piggy bank and bought some shiny new space marines, and browbeat me into finishing my Tau (payment for some terrain at one point). Tonight, he's taking me back, and introducing ME to actually playing 40K. 20 years of lurking, and here I go. I know where this will go. A squad will need fire support. A squad will need vehicles (he's already decided on a Rhino and I don't know what else). So, in advance, thank you Bill, Silveroxide, Eli, and everyone else who has contributed to this thread over the years. You may not have known it, but all the effort you've put in is going to make one kid's day this year.

Thanks for all of the models given freely. It has been a while since I posted, but I am still building them. My grandson is into warhammer now and he has chosen the Dark Angels. This is one of the models by Eli, and it is slightly modified my way. The chassis is that of the predator and the turret is scratched built. Al insignia are hand made and the storage boxes are scratched built. The models did not get my special treatment of a build thread but here are the results.

Super job on the modified Predator Pedro! I miss your build threads. Would love to see you return with one, 'specially a WH40K.

Here are some more photos, this time of the predator. The color choice for my grandsons army is Dark Angels green. I use forest green as the base color and give it a wash of cherry red but burnt amber is just as good. The turret was a bit difficult but I modified it to make it more stronger for handling. There are many assessories hand made for this model. The local hobby store allows for the use of the models and I support the business by purchasing the figures and other items. Again, these models would not be possible without armorman and Eli's crew. Here are the photos and enjoy.
