Here are high and low angle shots of house 8 and 10. They are just setting in the pavement piece, not glued. House 10 is still under construction. Rampart 4 is on the left and house 6 on the right. I removed City Hall to take these pictures. this should give some idea how well things are fitting.

finally more pictures

Hi all those following,

I have been building this City but have neglected the photos!
here is the catch-up:
Houses 12,14 & 16 and the barbarkan gate and two overall shots.
House 14 (three roofs) is a tavern.
The gate had lots of sub assemblies.
House 18 and one more section of wall will close the gap, then construction moves north.

note

Just a note:

Parts count is at about 1500, so this is about 25% of the book.
So far the fitting of parts and sub-assemblies. have been very good.
Most problems were builder error a few parts were mis-numbered but obvious what was correct from the assembly diagrams.
I try to translate the building description to get some idea of the architectural features. I use the written assembly instructions only to get an idea of the recommened sequence (usually just follow the part no. sequence. My Czech is stricktly from the dictionary.

Looking at the pictures, I thought you were 75% done, not 25%. It really is delightful to see the different buildings and how they fit into the diorama. Thanks

toVK

This is the first of three sections of 'The City', here is a photo of the book cover. The section currently under construction is across the river. There is the bridge, near section of city and the chalet(on left) that I have not started. The book is 1.5" thick with 1" of parts and 0.5" instruction in Czech. Every thing will take about 3.5' x 5' when done. Scale is about 1:160 maybe it will get an N scale RR when finished!

I like the train Idea.
Here is my Prussian train outside the wall.

I like it. Amongst the other buildings in this set, is there a train terminal?

No train terminal. I believe the general time period is too early.
Buildings etc seem to date from 1300 or a bit earlier to about 1800.

No #41, no holes that I know of!

What I call the north wall has now spanned all the way across. The sub-assemblies fit quite well, some construction slop but nothing that a little glue and finger pressure cant fix. The townsite plan that I have been using is glued to a 3mm (1/8") piece of plywood and is just too thin for the 700mm (29") long span to be stable, since the town has to be raised 28mm (1 1/8") for the bridge to fit the river I made a torsion box from 10mm ply ripped to 22mm for the frame and another layer of 3mm ply to close the box. Now the base will not flex at all. With the base rigid I will be gluing the sub-assemblies together onto the base.
