Johanneskirche
A friend recently gave me a model of this church in Darmstadt.
I very much liked the graphics and saw there were no domes, so decided to make it. The pictures showed that the gap in the flying buttresses had not been cut out, so I decided that they had to go. This meant that buttresses were hollow. To get round this I copied the buttresses and used the front pieces to fill the gaps. The rest of the build was quite straightforward because all the parts fitted so well. The only other item to deserve embelishment was the steps. The kit has them printed below the doors. These were easy to make because I had card the same thickness as the printed steps and the ground plan shows the size of the steps. So, after the recent disappointments it was good to find a reasonably simple model that works well and looks good. The only fiddly bit was making and fitting the extra bits in the buttresses, but it was well worth the effort. Cheers Mike |

I like it a lot. Very precise build, and the 3D effect of the artwork is really first rate.
