Houses of Parliament

Like Mike Stamper (Windsor Castle) I used a Micromodel kit to make this model of the Houses of Parliament. This kit had a single print run in 1953. The base of the model is about 7 1/2 inches by 5 inches.

What a magnificient job. It is beautiful.

From what I have read there are very few of the original Micromodels in circulation. You are fortunate to have one.

I have the Limited Edition of the Kenilworth Press model of the Parliament which is a copy of the the Micromodel at twice the size. They were first printed in 1972. Mine was copyrighted in 1996. I have not made it yet but it is my my must try list. I also have the Kenilworth Tower of London and the Kremlen by Myles Mandell. I have made Kenilworth Westminster Abbey.

You and Mike Stamper (Windsor castle) are to be congratulated for your skill, patience and good eyesight. These small models also save a lot of storage space. You could place six of your Parliament models in the space that my last model - Hohensalzburg - occupies.

David,

I didn't notice until after I sent my reply that you are a brand new member as of yesterday. I would like to welcome to a great web site. You will have a lot of fun reading all of the wonderful posts. Everyone is so enthusiastic about their "branch" of papermodeling. There aren't as many folks that write about architecture as there people who build great models with wings or wheel or sails or some other interesting thing.

The first thing I do everytime I sit at my computer to check the home page and architectural models on papermodelers. It has replaced Facebook for me as a much more interesting way of socialization. Glad to have you among us. Write something often.

Thomas

David,

I've just seen your model and I am very impressed. I know Micromodels - especially the big buildings - need a great deal of care to make.

I was standing on the balcony overlooking the Thames a few weeks ago!

Keep up the good work.

Cheers
Mike
