Chateau du Clos de Vougeot

I took a short break from building Mainz Cathedral to build a new die cut model by Instant Durable - the Chateau du Close de Vougeot which is located about 13 miles north of Beaune in Burgundy, France. The model was easily to build with parts being prescored and well numbered along with colored symbols to indicate locations. There was a numbered diagram but no photo of the finished model. I ended up with a small part # 15 which would not fit where indicated on the drawing. If any of you have made this model, please send a photo of the exact location of this part - it is a very, very tiny little roof.

The Chateau is a walled vineyard which was owned by the abbey of Citeaux (the Cistercian Abbey which had been home to St. Bernard)from the 12th century up the French Revolution. The building was completed in the 16th century with the main building in the purest Renaissance style. The Castle is open daily for visitors. They have a wonderful web site - www.closdevougeot.fr (with English translation) This is a MUST VISIT site for our upcoming cathedral quest to Southern France. We will be staying several days in Beaune. I posted a thread and photos of my recent model of Hospices de Beaune last week.

The quarter (25 cent piece) on the courtyard of the model is shown to indicated the size of the model.

Hi Tomdaviesclay:
Charming little construction. I had to go to the site of L'Instant Durable to understand the size of it.
You have rendered them a service as they don't display a photo of a built model.
