Van Gogh's Yellow House by Mauther

I was rather taken with idea of turning a painting into a model - as applied by Mauther - and so decided the model needed making!

Downloaded it was rather large for me, so I decided to reduce the model down.

Eventually reduced it to fit a couple of A4 sheets of paper - around 1/220 I guess.

Printed on 160gm paper, and given a coating of matt varnish (Games Workshop's Citadel Spray) and I was ready to go.

The second picture shows everything cut out. You will note on the top right I also copied an image of the actual painting onto the paper as well. My plan with this is to glue it to the base so people can see what the actual painting looks like.

Last picture - everything folded and ready to go!

I agree with you, this is a unique idea and I'm anxious to see your completed model.

Assembly was straightforward - and everything had a great fit.

I assembled each unit first and then glued them together in sections before adding them to the base.

Picture 1 shows all the pieces complete.

Picture 2 shows the two units on the backdrop with the main house to be completed.

Picture 3 - the main house done.

Picture 4 - the base with the "original" picture attached!

Then, a couple of minutes work and the model was finished.

In the smaller size it is really nice, and is an especially colourful addition to the mantelpiece!

Thoroughly recommended, as a fast relaxing build that goes together well. Thanks Mauther!

Thank you Mauther. The nice build reflects the excellence of your model really!!!!

It struck me that having reduced it, the scale was not immediately evident - so yesterday I took a couple more pics to put it into perspective.

Great model and nice build. I visit Mauther's site a couple of times a day to see what neat, new stuff is there. It's a great resource.

It would be nice to see this concept applied to some of Edward Hopper's paintings as well. The stark simplicity of his art would translate well into a paper model.
