My humble first effort to add layering
I have been lurking around several paper sites. I have built several free downloads of buildings and one aircraft, Cessna 172 for my brother.
This model is from a sub thread about Lincoln buildings in the "Build your own Main Street" by the State of Illinois, USA. This was my first attempt to cutout windows and doors to give what I called a 3D effect and documented it as a 4 Step Clinic on my blog, Armchair Modeling I blog mostly of model railroad subjects but I feel much of it applies to modeling in general. In my own way I am bringing card modeling to a new group of people. Armchair |

Nice work there. A friend of mine does HO in roughly 1920-40 period for his layout, so have turned him on to a bunch of HO cars and structures that would fit. Don't know if he's actually done much with them, but will pass the link to your blog to him.

I wish I'd seen this earlier. When I had my model railroad ( I still have it, but it is depressing to look at following an incident where my mom allowed my small cousins to play with it while I was in college ... major ouch) I started playing around with the plans in Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. If you take your time, and pay attention to details like in your detailed cabin, you can have amazing buildings for your set. I'll have to visit your blog more often.
It looks like you have some of Dave Graffam's buildings, too. |
