3D Paper Buildings

So here's what my current passion is all about -- 3D model buildings made from foam core and card-stock paper. It was a little tricky coming up with the templates, but once I had the dimensions nailed down, the buildings came together surprisingly quick and easy -- using a glue gun and a can of adhesive spray. Now it's just a matter of making more buildings and expanding the landscape. By the way, these are approximately 1/1000 scale.

Thanks, Zakopious...
Yeah, I saw that site a couple days ago. Nice directory of model building sites. However, I can't say I've seen anything much similar to what I'm doing. I'm using a 2-template system -- first template is for cutting the core structure in foam core, then a second template for cutting out an outer skin that covers the joinery. Works pretty slick, actually. The templates can be downloaded from my site (here's an image with the address):

Nice looking stuff.
Kind of reminiscent of the description of the NYC island in the book Rendezvous with Rama.

Thanks, SCE...
Is that the Arthur C. Clark guy? 2001 space odyssey?

What really got me fired up about the paper buildings is a video I saw on YouTube -- Rolling in the Deep by Adele -- a segment towards the end of the video where a large tabletop paper city catches fire (I won't be burning my model down anytime soon!). I really like the simple, stark-white facades of the buildings. Kind of surreal looking, I think. Plus, the models I make can easily serve as the basic structure for all kinds of printed facades that I might add later on.

Thanks! You've got some very nice buildings yourself!
I'm hoping to expand my templates to include some building facades.

Thanks for the compliment! Yeah - I think the plain white facades are pretty striking as is. I'm going to try and expand my city to fill a 4x8 plywood sheet. I had thought about creating some matching cars and people, but at approximately 1/1000 scale, these get really, really small!
