Linderhof
It seems to be ages since I've posted a new model. This one is quite straightforward, until you reach the roof, which was a little tricky.
What takes the most time is the detail - such as the statues and pillars. Linderhof is the smallest of the three Palaces built by Ludwig II on Bavaria. He gained the title of "mad". I'm not so sure - just because he built three Palaces, doesn't make him mad - Look at Henry VIII. I prefer "eccentric" - He would have fitted well in the UK. Politics were also against him, which didn't help. Anyway, back to the model. It's designed by Thomas Pleiner, who visits this forum, so I will be careful what I say. It's published by Schreiber Bogen to a scale of 1:90. This makes the base about 30cm by 30cm. One of the problems is that the statues aren't double sided, which means there are white areas behind. Another is the instructions - all we get is a note saying "build in numerical order" There are a few drawings but the main one doesn't show all the pieces. Admittedly, some parts have drawings on the reverse that show how they are folded, but some of the more complicated pieces, such as the curved tops to the pillars on the side are a matter of trial and error. Luckily the trial worked before any errors occured. So, I made this because like many of my builds, we have been to Linderhof - definitely a place to visit! It's not too difficult but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is new to modelling! Cheers Mike |

Beautiful model! Looks just like the real thing. I got to see it in college along with Neuschwanstein. Gotta love Ludwig.

Looks like a challenging model, but you have constructed it very nicely! I appreciated the large, detailed photos. Great work!

Wow. Seriously. Until recently I didn’t know paper modelling even existed, now I’m finding this kind of work.
