Have been in contact with designer Tom Houha, who confirmed my information so far. Have written to the firm who now seems to own the copyright, and awaiting their answer.
In the meantime I spent the last few rainy days building the Needle. I printed it on A4/Letter size paper, resulting in a scale of ca. 1:262: the building is 184 meters (605 ft) high. At this size it is still quite easy to build - no small parts. The first picture shows the base, with part of the entrance building. Picture 2 shows core in position, with the roof of the lobby waiting to be glued in place. On the right the level 1 floor and the lower part of the legs, with their base cones. Picture 3 has the first floor in position, with the functions rooms being prepared - these were added much later. |

Good heavens, no - that would make it a tiny model!! It is a 5 centimeter grid, so ca. 2 inches.

I forgot to take pictures of the preparation of the top level, the restaurant. So these pictures show the rest of the building stages. Total height now ca. 70 cms.
Not a difficult build, but vey satisfying! |

That is about 28 inches tall. Pretty good for A4/Letter size paper. The top must be about 6.32 inches in diameter or 15.8 cms. The model shows the structure approximately around the years 1982 - 2000. The Skyline Restaurant, at the 100 foot level, was added in 1982. And in 2000 the Space Base was added which changed the structure at the bottom.

Very nice!
Built up it is certainly impressive - also a very different type of structure visually. Attractive building I think.... |
