ABC models
I've been a bit quiet on the forum front, mainly because I decided to make a few downloaded kits and small ABC churches.
I have just finished a church that was a lot more intricate than I thought. There were more than 18 buttresses each made up of 4 parts each there are almost a dozen small spires on each of the dormers and roof ends. The final touch was all the strips around the bottom of the walls and buttresses. It says a lot for the kit that almost all of the 30 strips fitted with out alterations. The photos are of the Chapel in Damnikove (the one mentioned above) the other church is St Bartolomeje I don't know where it is, unfortunately. The final water mill has exposed roof beams, all of which are made of balsa. The kit provides templates for these bits and the roof overhang shows their positions. Apologies for the sideways tower, I have no idea why it isn't "portrait". Cheers Mike |

Nice looking models.
Only thing I can find about a Katedrála svatého Bartoloměje (Cathedral of St. Bartholomew) is it is in Plzeň in the Czech Republic, but the pictures don't match with the model. Searching the name from a list of ABC models keeps showing the same non-matching pictures. Maybe it changed through the years or the search is returning errant data.

The first one is neo-gothic Church of St. John Baptist in Damníkov (Eastern Bohemia). Built in years 1845 - 1898, scale 1/120, I guess.
The second one is baroque Church of St. Bartolomew in Jablonné nad Orlicí (the same region). The water mill has no real master, it's typical Czech water mill from 18th - 19th century. There were tens, maybe hundreds mills (from simple wooden ones, to riches - of imposing architecture) in Czech countryside, but till today left only remainder of them ... Hope this helps :-)

Thanks for the info Gerry. All three of the kits are originals from the ABC magazine and therefore it's all in Czech. The ABC website has all the models and instructions - I have visited the site and used Google to translate the instructions. With these kits, there was no need for instructions, the numbering of parts was sufficient.
Gerry we will be in Prague next month - I guess the magazine is still printed? if so I will have to check the magazine stands. Thanks for the comments Mike |

I assume you have to manually type the Czech into goggle. I know Czech uses several diacritical marks. Does Goggle work without a special keyboard?

Czech doesn't use the same diacritics Polish does; thanks a lot for sharing the link, though! - Tex |
