into the unknown

I've just "got into" a new model. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is!

A friend gave it to me a few years ago and as you will see from the cover the whole thing is written in a language impenetrable to me. The only clue is the price tag - NT$. Which indicates The New Territories - generally known as the Hong Kong area.

Any ideas?

The second picture shows the base which is about 12inches x12 (30cmx30). Still another 12 pillars to go!

Cheers
Mike

It's a Taiwanese product. NT$ means new Taiwan $.

Btw, it says in small print on the top left corner that it's the heritage model 2. Obviously, it's a series of architectural model not seen in HK, yet.

If it's from Taiwan Michael (thehaggard) would know. He lives in Taiwan. Try shooting him a pm and see what he knows.

Thanks to all for the help

Here are a couple of pictures of the roof supports, I've spent quite a few evenings cutting and folding all the "timbers". One reason for taking the pictures is because the roof is glued onto them, so they won't be seen when the model is complete.

Shame........

Cheers

You want one of these for peeking inside your model buildings Mike.

Mini 4 LED USB Waterproof Endoscope Borescope Snake Inspection Video Camera 2M | eBay

This is the cheapest one I've ever seen. I've ordered one, but as it is coming from Hong Kong, it'll be a while before I can give a review.

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny.

It is the Mengjia Longshan temple local at Taipei, Taiwan. The red fonts basically saying how great it is as a gift and how great as a display, and how great it is as a hobby and stuff like that. The fonts in the big yellow box are the name of the director(top) and the designer/artist(bottom). Small yellow box saying Taiwan historical paper model:

So there you goes. you got a Mengjia Longshan Temple model.

Very nice assembly work so far! I really like the graphics on this model. Traditional Chinese architecture is so structurally complex and visually rich.

Hard for me to read, because it's written using the "complex characters" used outside of mainland China.

Here's what I get for the main text:
自己蓋 - Build it yourself
龍山寺大殿 - Great Hall of Longshan Temple (Longshan = "Dragon Mountain")

(Thanks to GoodDuck for weighing in with native speaker expertise while I was writing ^_^)
