you may have a look at the pictures taken at the present exhibition of a few hundred RV models in the Charles' Bridge Museum in Prague: Kartonmodell-Forum | Museen | Audienz im Museum von Richard V., König des Papiers Amongst hundreds of other Vyskovsky models you'll find also »Tower Bridge« and »Leaning Tower in Pisa/Italy«. Indeed both are not very authentic interpretations of the original buildings. But under an artistic view point both came out well. Going deeper into the work of RV it is visible that the majority of his models show some sort of »pretty« artwork with an emphasis towards customer attraction . . . Finally that explains a lot to me. An example to show the drastic difference between a »nice« RV model and the reality is the model of the moated castle »Svihov«: (see attached model picture by Guido Weisshahn) and ... the »Original«: (see attached picture © Verwaltung der Staatlichen Burg Švihov, Žižkova 1, 34012 Švihov) Have a nice weekend + best regards Thomas Pleiner www.mtp-studio.de www.kartonmodell-forum.org |

Hello, Thomas Pleiner;
Your Pohansko Castle is a beautiful rendition of Vyskovsky's design; all done with the precision and fine craftsmanship that is always present in your work. Congratulations. And your photographs also are excellent. Looking at them makes me feel as though I could just walk into that building. Thank you again for an excellent presentation. I shall watch for what comes next. Thomas Meek |

Thomas,
Thanks for the pictures - I saw the model show displays a few days ago. Watch this space - there may be news of a big exhibition in London later this year. I could not agree more with your comments about the kits - we spent two weeks touring the Czech Republic a few years ago and we visited as many castles as possible- according to the guide book there are over 400- we didn't see them all ! I really like RV's designes but the colouring becomes too "familiar" after a while. Have you tried his "Medieval Towns" I spent almost six months making just one !! Perhaps he needs to widen his "pallet" of building materials? |

I felt free to excavate this "antique" thread because having assembled more RV models a few years later than the model shown here I now fully agree to your impression. Confessing that RV's designs are excellent they do not show really - let me say - a progress. This mut not be inevitably a disadvantage because having found a certain style performed with utmost virtuosity can help to achieve comprehensive output ... ... I also own the RV »Medieval Towns«, but there is no plan to assemble them at present ... |
