CASTLE LIPNICE (Lipnitz) 1/250 (erkoTYP / Prague 2010/2011 Richard Vyškovský)

Undoubtedly one of Richard Vyškovský's most remarkable cardmodel designs is
CASTLE LIPNICE (Burg Lipnitz) and belongs to his later
work recognizable by art and style of the technical design and the very
attractive artwork both looking very attractive and close to reality.

The castle is located in the highland part (Bohemia/Moravia) of the Czech Republic.
It's construction begun in the early 14th century assigned by
Raimund of Lichtenburg and received several changes in ownership as well as
architectual extensions and re-designs. The most important modifications were those in the
renaissance style in the mid of the 16th century.
At the end of the Thirty Years' War the castle was partly demolished by
swedish troups (mercenaries).
In the mid of the 19th century most parts of the castle were demolished
by a fire, which leaves the castle uninhabited since then.
The ruins received first protection tasks in the early 20th century but serious
re-contruction tasks were not undertaken before the 1970ties and 1980ties.
For example the three-storey main building (palas) is still mostly a ruin without roof and glass-less windows.
Today the castle is utilized as a museum and for touristic purposes.

Hello Thomas,

Lipnice is my favorite kit from the last bunch of Erkotyps. It is hard to find a right angle on the plan and there are lots of charming details

Good evening Ricardo,

thank you for your response. This model was one of those been shuffled from one corner
to the other of my desk since more than two years ... but feeling a lack
of experience in the assembly of Richard's designs I was little encouraged
to start it ... but now (having put together some of his models) I think it's
the time to lay eyes on one of these complex matters ... nevertheless I'm
in good company, because John M. is presently assembling »LIPNICE« also.

Personally I have NO IDEA how long MY assembly of »LIPNICE« will take.
There are a some new cardmodel designs in the middle of their creation
process on my desk, so I will TAKE my time .... (»BLATNA« castle took
three years - but due to completely other reasons).

Cheers

Hello Thomas,

Yes, I noted that John is assembling Lipnice, too.
My construction thread vanished in Kartonist but it is online on the Portuguese "Modelismo-na.net" forum, just in case you find it useful to look at the pictures.

This looks like a very complex model. I look forward to seeing the construction.

CASTLE LIPNICE (Lipnitz) 1/250 (erkoTYP / Prague 2010/2011 Richard Vyškovský)

Indeed there are already two very competent reports available showing the assembly of this castle model.
(one by Ricardo Leite and another one John Madill)
What would I can add to these? Only smallnesses I believe.
But after deeper examination of the kit I got the impression
that their are additional opportunities to to improve soms details.

... a few pictures from today show the recessed windows arrangement of the
two first walls, one window enhanced by mullion and transom.
