Farmhouse and storehouse by Richard Vyškovský 1:87
Hi all,
I started with another kit of Richard Vyškovský, a farmhouse and storehouse from Czechia. The scale is 1:87. I began with the storehouse: three stories, the higher always a little greater, on top the roof with some windows. Each story and the roof itsself were reinforced with pieces of cardboard. Missing now are beams of wood on each story: I think, I will make them out of painted matches. Regards Dieter |

Dieter. I have never seen a barn like that. It is a well done model. The farm house looks like a good build. Have you started it yet?

@ Dieter - yes, Mr. Vyskowsky loves to put us making truckloads of "wood" beams. This model takes a huge number of them! I used paper but the standard matches seem to have the correct section. Anyway, they are so short that I guess they will be tricky to cut.

Hi all
and thanks to Fred, Thomas, Elliot and Ricardo. @Thomas: I didn't start the farmhouse yet, but will begin the next time. I will show pictures here in this thread. Last pieces were the wood beams, made out of matchsticks and painted brown. Then some small parts: stairs, a fence, a stonewall... In the end its a nice little building, some unique construction, that remembers me at some swiss barns that I have seen some years ago. Thank you all for your nice comments and now it's time to assemble the farmhouse itsself... Regards Dieter |

Farmhouse
Hi all,
today I started with the main farmhouse. Parts are big, so I will reinforce them with cardboard. And now there are to cut and glue many doors and windows. This will take some time... Regards Dieter |

Charming structures. Recessed doors and windows are a pain in the neck, but they really enhance the appearance

Store House and Farm House by Richard Vyškovský
Hi, Dieter!
That is an interesting store house! And I really like the short wood beams that you made from painted, cut match sticks, which add a lot of realism to the finished structure! In fact, we have similar old buildings for food storage in the middle (Dalecarlia, Hälsingland) and the north of Sweden (Laponia), perhaps not THAT high, but high enough, so that animals (rodents, mostly, but also bears and other large animals) couldn't get to the fresh food (salted meat or fish). They often also have a very steep or straight ladder with steps, axed or sawed out from one single tree log, to make access very difficult. They were sometimes made so that they could easily be removed for the night and kept indoors or at least away from the store house. I assume that the shape of this Czech store house has a similar purpose, to perhaps keep the food safe from stray wolves, bears, and smaller animals. All the best, Bengt in Stockholm |
