Thanks Mike, for looking at my visit to Tewkesbury Abbey and your kind remarks.

I am afraid that my memory is not that good. We do a lot of research about the things we are going to see and take notes with us. I take a small computer and write the basic details of our visit every night, which I then send to our families plus several photos. I also every night identify every photo. Also, if a picture book is available at the cathedral, I buy that, which will later refresh my memory about various parts of the cathedral. I then have all the basic info when I write on my webpage so I just have to fill in the details. It still take several days to do one day on the web. The photos take a lot of time formatting etc.

Making the model before hand is a very big help. I wanted to see the two flying buttresses on the north side - one at the nave and another on room off of the north transcept.

Rupert, on that page I thank you for all the wonderful English models that you have designed kits for. If you had not made them, I would have missed so many beautiful cathedrals and churches.
Thanks for your kind comments. I went to Lincoln yesterday but had not really meant to. I had meant to go to Beverley some way further up but didn't get enough sleep the night before for that journey. I shall be doing a new model of Lincoln next year as the first attempt now strikes me as a little austere looking and uses way too much card. Here's a few Lincoln Cathedral photos anyway. Of all the cathedrals in England this is the one that astounds me every time I see it. It is as though each time were the first: it is utterly breathtaking.

Are the last two photos interior shots? They look like they could have been carved recently, so I was wondering if they were inside, or if they had just survived weathering

No they're not. The pillars are part of the south-west door and the grotesque is almost hidden between the two south transepts. Restoration is always ongoing at Lincoln and these two elements may well be renewed or restored.

Well, it's been a while. I've had a couple of problems...one is just too many life interruptions. So, I'll catch a up a little.

Rich--Thank you and I suggest you just "jump in" and give one a try. That's about what I ended up doing.

Thomas--glad you shared the memory thing. On our tour of England/Scotland, I had to write everything down or it would have been a big muddle when we arrived home.

Rupert--Thanks for the photos.

My second problem was a poor fit with respect to one of the pieces (It's arrowed in the first photo.) I attribute this to my skills rather than Rupert's design. I think I missed several dimensions just slightly and it turned things into a real problem. To solve the dilemma, I had to cut off a couple of sections and make my own pieces to fit the gaps. I don't think it turned out badly...but I'll be more careful in the future.

Attachment to the nave is next.

I shall watch with interest when other forum users post their 'builds' of this model because then I can see whether or not there's a problem with that chapel roof. Thanks for bringing it to the attention of the forum. Good luck with the next phase.

Looks like you overcame your problem well. I don't see where things have been adjusted
