Tewkesbury Abbey by Rupert Cordeux (1:240)
After St. Stephens cathedral, I had to start another so its going to be Tewkesbury Abbey by Rupert Cordeux.
Tewkesbury Abbey (also known as the Parish Church of Saint Mary the Virgin) is in Gloucestershire England. Its history dates back to the mid-600's but officially became an abbey in approximately 1100 when the construction of the current building began. It survived a bloody battle that took place within its walls during the War of the Roses and the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII--an act that destroyed many of the abbeys (e.g. Tintern). The people of Tewkesbury, arguing that the abbey was a parish church bought the church and saved it from destruction. First step below:

Thanks Don, Fred and Ben.
I have built Rupert's cathedrals before and have never been disappointed so I'm looking forward to this one.

Nice to see it coming along. Just tell me something: What is that "cut it twice and it's still too short" about? Is it some kind of motto? I am genuinely puzzled.
Anyway, here's some photos to keep you going on Tewkesbury. I look forward to seeing the finished build. By the way, if you want a laugh, Google: "Artist refuses to cough up in Tewkesbury Abbey" You may rest assured that I was the victim. |

Rupert,
"Cut it twice"...Just a bit of foolishness. I was helping with set construction for our local community theater and the old carpenter's adage "Measure twice, cut once" was always thrown about. Then at some point., one of my friends said the absurdity...I cut it twice etc...which I had never heard and it just stuck with me. Guess that says something about my sense of humor. (or maybe lack of it!)
