Tim - very nice indeed.

The work on the sails is going to be well worth it in terms of the appearance of the finished product!

That's some intricate work on the sail framework there Tim. Nicely done!

Very nice work, Tim! Don't forget to twist/curve the paddle frames a bit, as also can be seen in the picture of the real mill, at the top of your thread. This mill looks quite different from the appearance of an average Dutch wind mill.

Finally Finished:

The last items to build up were the sails and weather vane.

The sail spars are made up of wood with a card covering. The central hub is still card but, hardened with super glue

Overall it builds up into a very nice model of an interesting subject.

Tim

Very nice build and thanks for all the construction tips. I think this will be the major trackside structure for a rail diorama that I am designing using Zio's train set.
I noticed that you use super glue for hardening. I use ZAP Thin CA. It wicks quickly and surface hardens in 15 to 20 secs (depends on how much glue you use). I use it on struts made out of 110 lb paper and it really turns them into miniature boards. The one drawback is that at $9 an ounce, it is a bit expensive. I have never tried super glue; I'll have to try that and compare results. Thanks again for the tips.

John

It's coming along splendidly. I have to ask, the radial engine in the background, is that to be used for those days there's no wind?
Thanks for sharing the build with us.
