Dartlynx,

Thanks for your comments. I have actually called it a "beast" here at the house along with some other choice words when the going got tough. But it is an awesome model (not just because I built it either). It does challenge one. Sorry you had to leave yours behind.

I wanted to get some feel for size and fellow papermodeler, Paul Rowe, shared with me some 1:300 scale figures. I took two, painted them , gave them a base and then did some of my amateur photography. As you'll see, the figures are dwarfed by the minster. In the second photo, I've tried to point to the figures. The real Ulm minster must be overpowering.

The "beast" is coming along nicely.
I got curious about your statement on the size compared to a like scaled human figure so did an image search on the actual building. It is indeed overpowering.
They did some tall buildings hundreds of years ago. Must have had a lot of manpower.

Too bad it is being destroyed by men relieving themselves.
World's tallest church under threat from endless streams of urine

As for manpower, given all the minsters and cathedrals and the size of them, there must have been both manpower and money.
I looked at your reference and that indeed is a sad state of affairs. More portables may help but probably isn't the entire solution So sad.
