One day I am going to design a cathedral. Just because I love the beauty of these churches!

Great job. As usual with you :-)

Thanks for the comments.

Mike, I try to set up good lighting to take the photographs. Sometimes it doesn't turn out just right, though. Good lighting means you do not have to use the flash which as others have noted really emphasizes errors no matter how small.

Papierschnitzel, you should try designing a cathedral. You did a great job on the Japanese castle and grounds.

A little more progress on some roofs
Roofs 29-31overall

Roofs 31a-31b detail

Now for more work on the transept section (that cross looking thing on the right). The base piece gets laminated to some cardboard to stiffen it some.

Here is the piece that goes on top of the transept and nave:

You strengthen it with thicker card. There is a sheet of thick card included with the kit for that purpose.

Strengthen Part 32 with the enclosed cardboard and glue at the top onto the nave. It overlaps a bit.

Ther roof on the nave has been put in place:

The thick card used to stiffen the base of the roof as per instructions leaves a very unsigthly item when viewing the model at a low angle. I tried coloring the edge of the stiffener which sort of camoflages it.

That close up really emphasises the unsightlyness(?) of the part, but in normal viewing it blends in better. This also shows the greeble that was put on as a test. Good thing I decided to wait to glue the other ones on.

Part 20

Hello, Doug!
That neat little structure in the courtyard (cloister) is a fountain house, since the cistercian rules required washings before meals etc.
This Maulbronn well house is the most famous of them in Germany.
You may find lots of pictures via g°°gle via "Brunnenhaus".
Kind regards -
papercaptain

Thank you for the information about the fountain house, papercaptain.

I like to find the actual structures or sites of the of the architectural models I build. The area around Maulbronn Monestery did not have the street level feature in Maps but there is a nice overhead view and some eye level photographs of the grounds, including a few taken inside the courtyard showing the fountain house.

A little more progress showing the roof buttresses in place.

Figured they would not be knocked off as readily now that the roofs are all in place.

The bell in place.

Looks like some rough weather blew through the area.
Very small tabs on the parts. Decided to cut them off and edge glue. Worked out better.
