Maulbronn Kloster/Monsastary Shcreiber-Bogen

I have started on building the Maulbronn Monastary published by Schreiber-Bogen. Looking over the contruction diagram makes me wonder how the placement of the roofs are going to turn out.

Here is an overhead picture of the actual building in Germany:

I rotated it to sort of match the contruction diagram in the kit.

Cover and contruction diagram:

Ground tile with sub-assembly 2:

The ground tile is two page so instead of glueing them together I used a graphics program to make the ground tile one page and printed it with my wide format printer.

Some scale cubes to give an idea of the size:

A little more progress.
More wall sub-assemblies...

...a little bump out on one side...

...a closer look at the bump out...

... and one little roof.

Some slight missalignments have happened. Decided to try to split the layout lines for the wall sections. Some of the wall sections need to be placed between two already glued down walls so the fit can be a bit bothersome at times. Nothing a little force can't handle. The large roof sections will tell the tale.

Thanks, herky. Yep, those S-B buildings are nice.

Here are a couple of shots of what is in the future:

Nice work so far Doug. How long did it take you to reach this point?

Not sure on how long it takes me to build a paper model. I tend to do a little then go off and do a bunch of other things then start building again.

The progress so far on this model probably took a couple of hours. Most of the time is spent in trying to make sure everything aligns and waiting for the glue to dry. This model has some areas where it is difficult to apply pressure to a glue tab so you have really make sure there is enough time for the glue to set before moving on to another part.

Some work in the courtyard.
Looking at the contruction diagram made me wonder about this extra detail picture:

Turned out to be a neat little structure in the courtyard.
More roofs added to the building in the courtyard then that assembly starts with an octagonal base:

Then a piece that goes on top :

and connects to the walls and between the roofs:

It fits fits right in between two roof sections and forms the top of the octagon:

Here is another pic with some scale cubes to show the size so far:
