Bonsho bell tower

For friends of the Feudal Japan era I have started working on a bell tower.

I have made a modified version of the foundation set I made for the Asian Tower and a quick prototype for the framework to get the dimensions right.

Here I am reusing the Samurai Castle tower roof, but I will make a new one.

I have also started working on the bell. There will a simple cylinder version, as you don't see that much once under the roof but I also improved my texture mapping skills in Blender to make an advanced version. The details are not finished but it's a good start.

My LEGO worker bees presenting the bell on the foundations :-)

For the roof I am going for a simpler wooden roof. Imagine a small mountain temple...

Now I need to turn the fragile prototypes into more sturdy construction!

The texturing of the wooden framework is finished. Maybe some minor changes but I like the overall look.

I am using 160gsm paper so I use double layers (outside and inside) to get a strong model. Also I have inserted a part to bend the column posts into the right shape. Of course one could also use heavier paper and just the outside for a quicker build. Looks almost as nice then

Time to start working on the roof!

Thank you. I'll still have to make some bell hanging construction and I will also make a simple cylindrical bell too. As my better half loves the Japanese creations so much more than my space ships, I am thinking about putting a little lamp into the bell and make a couple of these as lights!

Outer roof textured! On the photo the texture looks a little blurry but it's actually sharp. Have to check that when taking the next pic ...

On to the inner roof
