Thanks everyone.
I had the downloaded pages from Alan's website but after trying to work with them a while back gave up. His model does look great with the recessed stairs. Like your story Kevin. There must be a special species of paper model eating insects on the African Continent. |

I don't know where I have been, but I am unfamiliar with this series. It looks fascinating and you did another great job. I just looked and Amazon has it for sale. I might have to indulge myself :-)

Thanks Fred.
Did add some extra work by printing extra sheets to add a 3D effect to the foliage, columns and relief work on the buildings. Can't really see it unless you're close up. Maybe a little too ambitious. Fred |

It turned out nice.
How did you handle the spheres on the High Energy Magic building? I tried numerous times to assemble them as shown in the instruction but could never get them to turn out quite right. I finally gave up and used some small balls to put the eight panels on.

Of course this is one of these models which were designed by people with little or no experience in building paper models. So you will come across some difficulties, caused by this lack of practical experience. However, a serious builder will generally be able to cope. And especially if you have read at least some of Terry Pratchett's hilarious books, this model is worth it: the artwork is gorgeous. Amazon.com has a lot of them available - at a price...

Did the same thing as you did Doug. Tried the first time and it was a disaster. So went to Hobby Lobby and bought some styrofoam balls and glued the panels on that. Worked great and looks good.

Although it has been a year since I finished the kit, I can't recall any problems during the construction relative to the design and instructions. I only felt the need to be creative by laminating some of the large surfaces onto foam core. As you can see from Seascapes photos there are domes on several of the buildings. That's a shape that doesn't lend to paper modeling. The illustrator helped by making the joints part of the aesthetic. And by including optional strips of matching material for "flashing" the seams.
