It's fascinating to watch your development method. It gives hope to people like me who would love to design their own models, but hate to sacrifice hours of assembly enjoyment to learning computer software. Of course, old school model design would also take many hours away from building. What a conundrum.

You might be surprised to learn that I am not a particularly keen model-maker. As I get older, I get less patient and it is the prospect of seeing the new model materialise which drags me to the finish line when I am test-building a new design. I do absolutely love the design process especially when I hit a problem and have to resolve it by a process of gathering data and testing ideas. Wells will be a little different from usual inasmuch as I am slowly wrecking my eyesight and will have to draw everything three times normal size. This will give lovely crisp detail such as may be seen in the nave aisle walls of Ely and Beverley. Will be back soon with more. The biggest reward is seeing my model-kit being well made out there.

Here is a picture of the Cathedral cat - I found her in the shop.

Ruprt: I am in steady pursuit (for the Wells Cat-hedral it would be purr-suit)
of your great drawings. Nice to see the revision of Wells and thank you very much for sharing your design process with us.

Your photos are very interesting inasmuch as they show more unusual views of out-of-the-way corners such as that in the fourth of these pictures. I may come back to you for more if I don't get an early chance to go down to Wells myself.

Very impressive. Will you be digitizing your plans when you are finished?

I have just done a double take on reading your comments. I do not ever use computer soft wear to design my models. Everything is hand drawn and collated together. It has never occurred to me to do these any other way. Draughtsmanship has always been my thing - I am a painter by profession - see example here which I painted yesterday as an art group demo.
