Wittenberg - 1/200 - Schreiber Bogen

After a long time “off” (not just holidays, of course…) I’m back to business as usual.
The model that I’ll show is a recent Schreiber-Bogen product: Wittenberg castle, or palace. As it happens frequently on recent Schreiber kits, the 3D detail level is quite limited. On the other hand, the graphic quality is excellent. Frankly, when ordering the kit, I was expecting more than just 158 parts for such an interesting subject. So, the assembly does not take much time…
The first pictures show the kit, in typical Schreiber format.

It's an interesting model, but don't think it's too easy. The supports of the tower are quite intricate and you will "enjoy" lining up all the windows and other fittings on the dome ;-)

Ah Ricardo, back on the front line! Good luck with your model. Mike made a fine version out of it and some of the ornaments look very tricky to cut out.

I hope the paper is of a stable quality as I've always found Schreiber using sort of flimsy paper. I once built Burg Eltz by Schreiber and had quite some stability issues which spoilt the fun. The only things left of it now are pictures....

Yes, there is a part that takes a lot of work to cut and the tower upper section is somewhat problematic. I intend to make some changes, there…
The pictures show the lower (and main) section of the building. There is an embellishment just below roof level. The buttresses will be next.

@ Erik – The relatively thin paper is much to my taste. Needless to say, I use almost exclusively all-purpose glue on Schreiber kits. Whit glue would be problematic. Eltz was my third Schreiber, in 2003. At the time, I did not use to take construction pictures. The attached pictures of the finished model were taken from odd angles…

Ha, that sight looks familiar! In fact, the Eltz model design is quite ingenious. It’s huge though.

Is there anything that you haven’t built, Ricardo???

@ Erik - LOL, as I keep building and see no lack of subjects, the short answer is "no"

In the pictures attached, there are 3 types of buttresses: one for gluing on a flat wall and two for gluing on angles. They differ on the lower section and I added card spacers in order to simplify the broadened base’s assembly.
