There are quite a few kits of "Open air museums" but this one is a bit different - it's a preserved village whose main job was iron production. Most of the original works are still standing and the mines are open to visitors.
The kit was designed by Gunnar Sillen who has a good web site covering many of his designs. There is no mention of a scale but the buildings are a little smaller than the minibox kits at 1:300. The base is about 9 by 5 inches. Around the edge are the names of the buildings - I'm trying to get translations. However the building at the lowest point houses a water wheel and the system of red rods provides power to most of the other buildings. The building process is a bit like GPM's Wawel castle where the ground is built and the buildings added later. There's a short film on you tube if you want to see more of the real buildings and history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPAu...ature=youtu.be Cheers Mike |
