Hello !

Inside, I glue a 1 mm cardboard with brown paper, the part is hollow inside ... The vaulted arches ...

... whose installation proves to be very tricky ... just as complicated to build the four corner columns

Yours sincerely
Kurt

Since the inside of the bows are visible, I color this dark ... when fitting it results in a gap of 1mm.

Since the tension is extreme I have to complain with weights ... Even the columns do not fit, three were too long and one 1.5 mm too short,
Here I was about to throw the whole thing in the trash.

But I will also finish this object,

Yours sincerely
Kurt

Yes, keep going. You don't want to waste the hours you have already put in.

Use some weathering or vegetation as well to cover stuff up.

Well done, Kurt. What you could consider is to slide pieces of cardboard in between the columns and their base, so-called shims, to level the uneven column lengths. These old Leon Schuijt models have their hidden issues. This design must be at least 45 years old.

Last year, just as a break before starting the Bavo church, I started a small water mill from the same publisher and about the same long gone by issue date. The model consisted of perhaps 20 parts or so and I was amazed by all the fitting issues. I never finished it. In any case, don't follow my example - just go on your water gate, you're doing a great job!

Erik

I know how you feel Kurt!

Last year while building the Haut-Koenigsbourg by L'Instant Durable it ended up in the trash twice. Next morning picked it up, looked at it and continued building. In the end it looked pretty good. Will have to post some photos one of these days.

Keep building, it's looking good!

Fred

Hi Fred , Erik and Kevin ,

I thank you for your sympathy with my complications, it encourages me to stick to it

Then of course I hope that the gable does not have these problems ... Cut out the parts roughly ...
... glue the back part ... then cut out and glue gable, again a complicated part
When growing the gable, there are again great tensions and some columns ... which are "plastered" again with glue

Yours sincerely
Kurt

Hello !

@ Kevin : yes itīs terrible !

@ Erik : yes , you only must take the right distance

The reinforcement parts for roof 32 are "copied" ... and assembled

Since the roof does not fit at all, I have to cut the gable apart and insert a piece ... with a lot of glue, the large joints are filled
The rear gable ... surprisingly fits very well, even without gluing

Yours sincerely

Now the dormer ... glue together 38 times ...
... then glued to the gable ... The strips 39 ...
... place around the roof

Yours sincerely
