Alpine house

After not building anything for years, I decided to create a 'Christmas' alpine house in card at approx. 1:200 scale. No plans or measurement were used, the whole structure was eyeballed and made from scrap card. The woodpile is made from a dead branch of some oregano, with the stone foundation layer from crumpled kitchen roll soaked in glue.

The (fictitious) village of Rebhuhn im der Birnenbaum is located somewhere in the Alps and attracts tourists with its brightly coloured roofs. After gluing strips of card to replicate real wooden roofs I tried several colours before settling on the striped design. Keeping the huge roof clean with so much snowfall is difficult and lichen has started to grow on the sunlit side, with dirt runoff from the chimney on the other. Subtle weathering to the plaster is also visible. Window frames were painted freehand, which took a thin brush and some controlled breathing!

I would like to add some more houses, a bierkeller, church and ski shop as well as some vehicles and figures. There is also greater realism possible particularly in the windows.
