Thanks David It should look better with the roof on

If you like double curvature roofs, there is no lack of them. The modeler is very much left out in the open, in what regards the assembly method. There are no tabs or formers. I glued some of the parts on thin paper and cut it to materialize tabs that allow proper links to the remaining parts. You can check that on the first picture. If the parts are correctly aligned, they fit perfectly, despite the roof’s odd shapes. A good point for the kit designer!

Thanks, Fred

Today’s pictures show another welcome time-out from complex assemblies. The back towers could hardly be simpler.
Note my usual methods to shape and assemble the buttresses. Yet again, tabs were swapped for card bits.

Just a couple of pictures to show a fine detail that will fit at the rear of the left section.

Yet another beautiful building! Note that the dome, with an elliptical base, is similar to an assembly shown before but the design is completely different. Hmm, hard to choose between the two solutions...

The last “big” assembly regards the second building at the back. The pictures show the lower floor, complete with the triangular shaped embellishments just below roof level.

Second and third floors and the promise of an elliptical base dome…

The pictures show the dome construction. Having an elliptical base means that the 16 petals are not interchangeable. I identified them in the back, in order to avoid a mishap. The even numbered petals were glued over thinner paper, which was cut to form tabs to link to the odd numbered petals. It is important to shape the petals carefully before joining them. The petals will leave no gaps only if they are properly shaped.
Strangely enough, the ring printed near the petal’s top resulted far from perfect. That is not worrying, as it will be hidden by the upper part of the building. Much more important is to get the base shape right. I doubled it on thick card and opened a hole to allow access and simplify the mating to the dome. A paper circle served to link the 16 petal tips.

I agree. The use of a paper circle to unite the petal tips is a new one on me. Thanks.
