Thanks, Fred and Philip
@ Philip - the circle works well here because the dome has a flat top. The dome was not the building’s only difficulty. The mini dome was challenging as well… |

The last assembly is somewhat an anticlimax!
Discarding the base, the kit is down to just 13 parts. Final assembly lies ahead. |

Mating such large and complex assemblies could be a nightmare. I’m not pretending that it was easy. Some adjustments were needed and bits of spare textured paper provided in the kit served to cover minor misalignments. Anyway, it was much less complicated than I feared.
Only the base is missing, but not for long. |

With or without the transparencies, that’s the question! I don’t regret the decision to go for the “without” version. In my view, the model ends up looking more realistic this way. Being free to choose can only be positive.
Regarding the kit, it is a must for anyone that likes complex architecture subjects. I experienced the need to make many changes to the construction details, like adding or removing tabs and formers, in order to ease the assembly. Anyway, it doesn’t get easy and, much less, quick. The building is fantastic, the kit is fantastic and you need a fantastic amount of time and patience to get the job done. If it is the case, this must be one of the most rewarding architecture subject kits available. Designers and publishers of kits of this caliber should be encouraged: buy it! |

Congratulations on a magnificent job of a wonderful cathedral. Your threads brought back many memories of the hours i spent on this model several years ago. I wish I was as much a perfectionist with my models as you are with yours, but I am still pleased with my results....but not a perfect as yours. I am finding that my 81 year old hands are beginning to get a little shaky with very small parts
What are you going to build next? I will be interested in following you again. |

This is a fantastic build of an architectural subject. One that I actually saw in person and went inside.
