I thank all of you who have shown interest in my model of Chambord Chateau and your words of encouragement.
I think that Chambord is going to take a long time to build. I just finish the staircase lantern which tops the two layer stair in the center of the chateau. It a number of complex parts. I have worked on it the past 3 days and finally finished that beautiful tower today. At one point I decided that the front side of the arches needed support and a flat tooth pick did the trick. I will now start of the four pavilions and turrets that fit in each corner. They are identical and have many parts. By the time I get to the fourth one, I will have figured out how to build the facades and towers that enhance each corner. |

"slow and sure" is a good maxim for this kit!
Seeing the lantern reminded me that the stair case beneath it is a double helix and was reputedly designed by Leonardo da Vinci who spent his last years in Amboise, not too far from Chambord Mike |

Wow, you have a task to do! My wife and I saw Chambord on a tour and ever since I've called it the Bucket of French Fries... because there are soooo many towers sticking up, and chimneys, and decorations. Your progress shots look amazing!

From my experience, Instant Durable kits are often trickier to assemble than they might look.
I have an copy (unbuilt) of Chambord and it is a case where the complexity is "bigger" than the number of parts. The lantern shows it well... |

If proof of difficulty were needed take a closer look at the front cover..... Quite a few domes haven't been "closed off" and few of the openings haven't been opened - there's a lot of black areas.
I used a domed dowel rod in the towers to close the domes. I also cut out the black bits, I think the latter may have been a mistake the towers became a bit weak and bent. Sorry to add more thoughts to your build --- as my wife says "It'll be fine when it's finished" Cheers Mike |

Beautiful work there, Thomas, but i don't envy you - looks like this one will be a real challenge, but we all know you're up to it.
