A new beautiful model found me

Last month, an ad from Amazon for a paper model popped up on my computer. It was for a Nano Paper model. I had never heard of this model before; however, I have recently found 4 references in Paper Modelers archives- Philip 2018, Mike Stamper 2016 and 2017, SCEtoAUX 2016 andRickstef 2015.

I thought I would try one and ordered the Palace of Versailles. It came in little over a week with free airmail postage from Japan. I have posted below photos showing the construction. The parts consisted of 5 red, 2 blue, 2 cream, 1 yellow, one black and 1 gold 4 “x 4” laser cut squares, a folded piece that made into a showcase and excellent directions. The laser cut parts were very detailed and extremely small. The pieces had tabs and slots which made gluing easier. The little dormers (see small part held by tweezers) and the facings were very tiny.

Below you will find photos showing all of the finished parts. Only the front view has windows and is decorated. The back and sides are glued into the showcase box and are not visible. I was extremely pleased as it is a beautiful model even though it is very small, the details are extremely well-done.

There are a number of these Nano models available on the Internet. I am very tempted to order several more, but most of them are Japanese structures which I have not visited. Besides, I counted today that I have 114 full-size kits that I have not made yet- 59 are of structures that I have visited. I have now made 97 kits. I turned 81 last Wednesday so the question is- will I live long enough to make the 114. :-) . Do I need to buy more kits? I am always looking!

Those are nice little models. The finished product makes a very good display.

I like these kits as well. They are pretty quick to build and very decorative when completed (it is the only model that my wife allows me to display in the dining and living room areas). I brought the Neuschwanstein castle to the convention in Virginia last year and hope to build the Himeji castle in time for this year's event.

I've built their "Black Pearl" and; with a moderate amount of cursing; was able to create a pretty decent model.
I'm looking forward to getting some more for Father's Day.

You know you want more of these ;-)))))

You can't use the excuse about Japan. Have a look on Amazon!

I know you've been to London, France, Germany and I guess you've even been to New York!

They are all there, just waiting for you ;-)))))

Cheers

Mike

These Nano kits are little gems, as one can see looking at your build. I made the Taj Mahal and gave it to a friend who was so astounded she shows it to everyone who comes to visit.
PS: I'm older than you and believe you can never have enough kits. If you no longer have the skills to build them you have at least a unique collection of "art books".
