thanks for the insight!

It is wonderful to have some insight into how you do what you do so well - and your watercolours are a major bonus, so thank you for transcending the technical with a bit of art for a change!

Thanks

Thanks again. We artists like a bit of praise every now and then! Tomorrow I shall FINALLY assemble the western parts and start drawing the recessed arches ( wouldn't they be )Talking of painting, there is to be a halt in Lincoln for a week or so while I reacquaint myself with the painter lost somewhere inside me.

West Front of Lincoln Model Nailed.

I have finally completed the design for the West Front of the model-kit of Lincoln Cathedral. It was fraught with problems and set backs due in part to my confidence that I did not need to make a blank prototype first: I was wrong!
You will notice that I am using recycled card for the prototype model, hence the printed detail on the reverse side of the illustrated piece.
Because these portals are so close together, even the widths of the tabs have had to be measured precisely. There is so little room for error with this piece, that I shall take the unusual step of providing the modeller with two copies of all of these pieces when the model is published in May.

Stunning Rupert. Your models get better and better in terms of the artwork!

I'm glad that you noticed the improvement. So Rochester Cathedral, my next and much more modest project has got to be even better!

Anyway, I have united the west front with the rest of the model as you can see here. Now I shall take a break and get some painting ( watercolours and oils ) done. When I return, I shall draw and make up the chapter house and cloisters, then glue this prototype model to a base.

Really nice. You must be chuffed to produce something like that - a real labour of love.]

I'll get there with a kit and make one, one day!
