silverback, I may have lots of photos that may be used as a reference, do you need any? (I'd have to dig for them but I know they're in my stuff somewhere)

This is great guys, thank you.

It would be a great addition to my display case.

Thanks,

Cheers, Ian

I have climbed it as well. The view is fantastic, and you have plenty of time to enjoy it while you wait for your legs to quit wobbling.

Initial Mock-up

Still a bit of adjustment needed to the basic shapes, but its squarely in the park. Height to the top of the roof is a bit over 14". The draught sphere and lightning rod spire will add another inch or so.
As a bit of perspective, it took almost two years to fully develop the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. The St. Augustine Light Station is at least as richly detailed, so getting this one over the finish line is going to take a while.
Patience is appreciated.

The Keeper now has a workshop ... sort of

The Keepers workshop/oil storage building and tower pedestal are essentially complete. The wonkey roof joints have already been adjusted on the drawings
Now working on the chimneys and gingerbread. Updates soon...

I tried to make fully detailed windows and shutters, but the parts came out devilishly small. So, in the interest of creating a kit that is actually buildable, all of those details are now printed on the building surface . You could, I suppose, print out multiple copies and stack things like the door frame, shutters and foundation reveal to get some texture. Thoughts?

Thank you. Take your time. No hurry.

I'm sure it will turn out fine

A towering achievement

Keeper's workshop is all sorted. Tower, tower windows, widow's walk and lamp chamber on. Just fretwork, railings and the draught sphere left to go, then on to my (least) favorite part ... the instructions.
For the lamp chamber: anyone interested in attempting the 1st order Fresnel? Not a simple shape, even in its simplest form. It would be at least 16 tiny pieces (or, possibly, one very detailed part with 48 folds) in clear film with all of the Fresnel details printed on. The lamp chamber glass would, of course, be clear film, as well.

Fin!

Prototype completed. Just need to unjumble the drawings and that phase will be done. I'll be doing a detailed build while creating the instructions (just to verify that everything, you know, ... fits).

We are due to go to St. Augustine again soon, I hope Marji doesn't make me climb it again!, around and 'round in circles, by the time I got to the top and peered over the edge, I thought I was going to puke!, (look out below!) but it does have fantastic views once on top, got some really good photos of the lens and lamp..
