Great work! many thanks for the efort in recreating another lighthouse.
If possible one sugestion, is ist feasable to not having the dashed lines on the model bends? at least on the annexed buildings, they seem to stand out in the corners... don't know if it was better a fine line, or no line at all (fold indication being on the paper outside he part itself)...
Well, just my two cents in a great model!

Anyone to try on take the build of a transparent lighthouse?
I have made the St Augustine fresnel lens in sketchup 2018, with old lights and the modern ones. As I didn't know the real dimensions, was made by the drawing, is just a question of scaling the model to the correc dimensions.
The unfolding part, arrangement, tabs, colours and textures, arenīt in my grasp yet!

Here is the sketchp file, maybe someone can use it. I think that it has all the textures, etc.
Feel free to question, modify, use, etc, etc, etc.

Updated skechup model scaled based in fresnel first order lens focal distance, in this case 920mm, (used into the diameter of the cone top/the lower lens), to a total lens diameter of 1,84m, the rest scaled accordingly.

Quick brush at a Fresnel

I can't open a Sketchup file, but the textures were useful in interpreting the photographs. It seems to be a 16-sided structure, except in the middle, where its 9-sided (3 sets of plano-bullseye-plano). Small wonder I couldn't get the numbers to work out!
Anyway, this is created using the tools I have. Constructive comments, as always, are appreciated.

Nice unfold! Thats it, 9 sides in the main lenses! At least , thats is my conclusion from studing photos!
SketchUp is/was free, and I'm used to it, but if it more useful on other file format, just name it, I will do my best. You can also try to converte it online, there are a number of free file converters available.
As for the lens model, I tought maybe a paper caje, with the transparent printed acetate glued on the inside?

Project Update

The build proceeds apace.
I tried to pound some three dimensionality into this rascal by layering the windows and stonework with thick cardboard. Gives it just a bit more visual detail. The drawings will include both the simplified version, and the more detailed.
Then ... there's that cursed fretwork support for the observation deck. Victorian architects sure loved their wrought/cast iron details. 16 pieces to fold and carve, just to test your sanity and patience. (OK, you only need carve out the open detail if you're doing penance or something.

C.P.Schenfeld - Anybody know why the new Silver Rose Studios corporate office attire has so many buckles and such long sleeves?
