Not really an architecture build, but I needed someplace to stash this- AirDave's 2016 Christmas model, the Santa Express Reindeer Emergency Shuttle. Here it is pictured with Dave's commemorative scale cube from the 2018 IPMC meeting, where I had the pleasure of meeting Dave and his daughter in person. A fun little build, which will now decorate my cube at work for the Christmas season.

And now some new architecture- this is the Winter Edition of forum member Dave Graffam's Frontier Cabin. As can be seen from the parts pages, it's a simple kit with wonderful textures. I've mounted it to a piece of foam core, and added some model railroad snow to soften and blend the edges of the ground base Dave supplies, and to cover some seams I didn't get as tight as I would like.

Over on the Comedy Stand, I've added a thread featuring the cabin with it's occupant, along with an invitation to the forum to add a caption to explain the occupant's... reaction. Check it out- you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for looking.

A new piece of architecture- this is the Gorham Covered Bridge, which dates from 1841 and crosses Otter Creek near Rutland, Vermont. It is still standing today! The kit is an Oxford Repli-Kit published by Keniworth Press. The copyright on the header card says 1999, but I don't know when the kit was printed. It's in N-scale, and was obviously hand-drawn. I bought if from forum friend Peter Heesch at the 2018 IMPC. Here's the cover and the single card, with AirDave's 2018 IPMC scale cube for reference:

I mounted the base plate to a piece of painted foam core and used textured paint to add some gravel roadway coming off the ramps at either end of the bridge. The build was quite straightforward; fit was troublesome in a couple places but nothing that couldn't be handled. I added some railroading shrubbery and rocks to give some depth to the base plate. Here's the finished model:

A dedicated scratch-builder could add a lot more detail to basic model, but I built it "stock" from the polybag it came packed in, and I'm pleased with the result. It's sitting on the window ledge in front of my desk (out of direct sunlight; I've already learned that lesson) where I'm working from "shelter in place" quarantine, encouraging daydreams of gentler times.

Thanks for looking, and stay safe.
